Why this plugin exists

DocxToWP started with a problem I kept running into: a finished Word document, a WordPress site, and twenty minutes of tedium standing between them. Paste the content and the headings arrive as styled paragraphs, the images either vanish or point at somebody else's server, and the tables need rebuilding by hand.

Every existing option solved part of it. Mammoth.js produced clean HTML but left the entire WordPress side to you. The SaaS tools worked well and charged a monthly subscription for what is fundamentally a file conversion. The generic importers were built for spreadsheets and treated a document as an awkward special case.

So I wrote a plugin that parses the OOXML inside a .docx file directly on your own server, maps it onto Gutenberg blocks, pulls the embedded images into your Media Library, and fills in the SEO fields. No external service, no subscription, no cleanup pass.

About me

I build and maintain WordPress plugins independently, and write about the work at inagaraj.com. DocxToWP is my own product — I wrote the parser, I answer the support email, and I ship the updates.

That is worth stating plainly because a lot of the “best plugin” content in this niche is written by people who have never used the tools they rank. Everything I publish here comes from actually running the imports on real documents. When I compare DocxToWP against something else, I try to be honest about where the other tool wins — you can see that on the Mammoth.js and WP All Import pages, both of which recommend the competitor for specific jobs.

How the plugin is funded

The free version on WordPress.org is genuinely free and covers 5 imports. Pro is a one-time payment of $29 with lifetime updates — not a subscription, and not a licence that stops working when it “expires”. 8 people have bought it so far. That is a small number and I would rather say it than imply otherwise.
